Your home screen shows Threadballs in your Favourites. Everyone else is in the Community page — tap + to add a new Threadball, Thread or Strand for yourself or someone else. A key means Joint-Owner access; a lock means Read Only.

Found in Settings, My Privacy shows everyone with access to your information and their access level. Swipe left on any name to give access to someone new, change an existing level, or remove it entirely.

Some strands are naturally a work in progress — a pending visa, an awaited result. Where there's an open step, the ACTION badge appears as a quiet reminder. Once resolved, it clears automatically.

Private by design

Your records are encrypted on your device before they reach us and are stored on Amazon Web Services, already locked.

Each record has its own key. Only you hold them — not even we can read what's inside.

Encrypted on your device

Records are encrypted with XSalsa20-Poly1305 — modern authenticated encryption from libsodium, the most widely deployed open-source cryptography library — with a 256-bit key per record and tamper detection built in.

A key for every record

Each Strand — and every photo or document attached to it — has its own encryption key. There's no master key that opens everything.

We hold only locked keys

The keys we store are themselves locked, so we can't open them. We cannot read what's inside your records.

Your passphrase becomes your key — on your phone

Your master key is created from your passphrase right on your device, using OWASP-recommended Argon2id. That key never leaves your phone, and we never store your passphrase.

Only you hold the way back in

When you join, you get 12 recovery words. If you ever forget your password, they're the only way to unlock your records — not even we can do it without them. Keep them safe: real privacy means there's no back door, not even for us.

Document scanning stays on your device

When we read a passport or licence to fill in fields for you, it happens on your phone. The image never leaves it.

Sharing passes a key, not a copy

When you share, you're handing someone a key — sealed so only they can use it. They see nothing until they accept. Revoke it, and their access ends and their key is destroyed.

What we do see

To run the app, we process a few practical details — like who's involved in a share (for example, that you shared something with “Sarah”), and which Thread a record is filed under (for example, “Health” or “Travel”). We never see what's inside — not the diagnosis, not the passport number, only the label on the Thread.
